Like you, I have heard it a lot, leave the past behind, focus
on the present and look to the future. Very true! But I cannot leave the past
behind, especially if what I see in the past is something positive.
Until I experience a new event that will top a performance
from the very distant past, I will continue to pull strength and inspiration
from what I once accomplished which set the ball rolling and brought me to
where I am today. That feat tells me, if I could do that, then I can do more
today. I told that story a few days ago to someone and realised that is a
strength booster for me: my personal motivator to dare, act and succeed. Drive!
I can go where others have been rejected and expect to be
accepted. I can go where I have been
rejected before and expect a different story. It isn’t in all cases that a ‘case
study’ is necessary for me to hope for the best result. My case can be the first ‘case study’ for others to refer to
tomorrow. And He makes all of these possible according to His own will. He
breaks protocols and because I am created in His own image, I can call things
that are not, as though they are, for the things that are, were made out of the
things that were not.
So, when I say “I am going there”, “I want to do this or try
this” … don’t stop me. It doesn’t matter whether that is not the normal
procedure. I will yield to The One who directs and knows all things.
It is just like believing God for something you have asked
for. You know He can do it, and will do it because you have other experiences from
Him to refer to that makes you confident. If He did it yesterday, He will do it
today.
So what do you see in yesterday? I do not see the pains. I
see the victories. I do not dwell on the ones I failed. I joy in the successes
and when I am in doubt I build my confidence in the path He once led me through
and I am assured, that as long as I continue to do that which is before me now,
I will get to the finish line.
